The Serena Cook Column

The Queen of Concierge

Serena Cook is Ibiza's go-to-girl for high-end concierge services. Her company Deliciously Sorted is referenced almost every week by media, and now she is Pacha's new monthly columnist alongside Rossetta Montenegro.

"WOWZERS, what a beginning to the season! The opening parties were a real extravaganza - from sashaying and shimmering mermaids at Ushuaia and the dancing girls projected onto the cathedral at IMS to the now paved VIP area at DC10 (now that's progress!) and the slightly alarming swaying VIP at IMS. And all that under the beaming sun of the best May weather in years!

Musical high points have to be Antz's set at Sands after Carl Cox, Seth Troxler at IMS, Bones at Sankeys and DJW!ld on the terrace of DC10. And I have to say hats off to those clever boys behind IMS - it's thanks to them that the summer season is starting earlier and earlier, which is great news for all of us who have our businesses here. And in July they're bringing us the Ibiza123 Rocktronic Festival. I'm already counting the days - I cannot wait for Lenny Kravitz, who is a real childhood heartthrob of mine.

A cultural highlight of the opening week was without doubt the launch of Jerome Ferriere's brilliant new book, Ibiza Portraits, at Atzaro. This massive coffee table tome features exquisite photos of all the old island characters who make Ibiza what it is today. It truly reflects the spirit of Ibiza - an island which is a melting pot for different personalities who in turn create the unique bohemian energy that still exists. Ibiza is a holiday destination like no other.

On the last Sunday in May I spent the day recharging at home in the quiet hills of the north and skipped Space for dinner at Cipriani. Oh my god, a drum roll please - what service and what food! We were looked after by charming Mauro, the manager, long with Martina and Paulo. Never have I had such good service in Ibiza and I'm still salivating when I think about the dishes.

Despite being open for only a few days, the place was packed, with each table reading like a who's who of the high-end European scene - and an ever-increasing number of American clients who are coming to Ibiza. (One of the reasons why I think Cipriani stands out as a dining experience is the music - not a house beat in earshot, just old-school glamour classics like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.) Anyhow, everyone then swarmed across the road to check out Luciano at Pacha, while I took myself home like a good girl, in time for an early Monday morning start in the office the next day..."
